UMM to Host National Park Proponent Jan. 25, Opponent Feb. 8

MACHIAS, Maine – A proposed national park in northern Maine will take center stage at the University of Maine at Machias, where two upcoming speakers will advocate for and against the park proposal. State Senator Cynthia Dill (D-Cape Elizabeth) will speak in favor of the Maine Woods National Park during a presentation at UMM on Wednesday, January 25. Millinocket Town Manager Eugene Conlogue, an opponent of the national park proposal, will speak on Wednesday, February 8. Both events will take place at 7 p.m. in the Portside room of Kimball Hall.

Former University of Maine at Machias women’s basketball and volleyball standout Carroll LaHaye ’77 has captured her 500th win as head coach of Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Virginia. In her 29th season leading the Yellow Jackets, LaHaye became just the 15th Division III women’s basketball coach to record 500 victories.
