Fifth Annual Rainbow Ball Alternative Prom Planned at UMM
MACHIAS, Maine – More than 130 youth and their supporters are expected to attend the 5th Annual Rainbow Ball Weekend, held April 13–15 at the University of Maine at Machias. The weekend of events will include educational workshops, a highlighter party, a drag show competition, an admissions campus preview, and the Rainbow Ball prom.

Maine Writers Series to Host Southwest Harbor Poets April 10
MACHIAS, Maine – The Maine Writers Series at the University of Maine at Machias will host members of the group Poetry Downeast for a reading at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10. The reading will take place in the UMM Art Galleries, located in Powers Hall.

WUMM Radio Station to Hold Open House April 4
MACHIAS, Maine – WUMM 91.7 FM, the campus radio station of the University of Maine at Machias, will hold an open house on Wednesday, April 4. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will take place at the WUMM studio on the second floor of Kimball Hall.

UMM Students to Present Research at State House on Friday
MACHIAS, Maine – Three University of Maine at Machias students will take part in Undergraduate Research Day at the State House in Augusta on Friday. The UMM students will join undergraduates from all seven campuses of the University of Maine System at the event, which runs from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Hall of Flags.

UMM Launches Web Portal for Students and Staff
Today, the University of Maine at Machias launched my.machias.edu, an online portal for students, faculty, and staff of the University. The portal is an internal Web site that allows central access to all of the online tools that students, faculty, and staff use regularly. It features a single sign-on to access many tools and resources, including MaineStreet, Blackboard, UMS Gmail, and a number of other sites. Content in the portal is also customized based on each user's pre-defined role as either a student, faculty, or staff member.

Alumni to Talk Leadership at UMM Forum
MACHIAS, Maine – “Searching for an Edge in Today’s Job Market” will be the theme of a leadership forum on Saturday, April 7 at the University of Maine at Machias. UMM alumni from across the globe will return to the campus to present on such topics as interviewing strategy, personal branding, and the importance of networking.

Book Arts Studio and Beehive Collective Collaborate on WCLI Poster
MACHIAS, Maine – The Book Arts Studio at the University of Maine at Machias and the Beehive Design Collective are currently working on a commemorative poster for the upcoming Washington County Leadership Institute (WCLI) Reunion. The poster, illustrated by members of the Beehive Design Collective, is being printed one sheet at a time on a hand press in the Book Arts Studio. The group plans to print 300 copies to send to alumni of the WCLI announcing the April 9th reunion.
