New Green Fee Funds Sustainability Projects on UMM Campus
MACHIAS, Maine – A new student fee at the University of Maine at Machias is giving campus sustainability projects some extra momentum. Last year, the UMM Student Senate voted to implement a “green fee” to provide start-up funds for sustainability projects proposed by members of the campus community.

Chris Crittenden to Read Poetry at UMM on April 9
MACHIAS, Maine – Chris Crittenden, poet and instructor of ethics, will read from his new book, Jugularity, at the University of Maine at Machias on Tuesday, April 9. The reading will take place in the Book Arts Studio at 7 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

UMM Reduces Carbon Emissions by 44% in Seven Years
MACHIAS, Maine – The University of Maine at Machias’ commitment to being a more energy efficient campus has had a positive impact on its carbon footprint over the past seven years. A recent report by the University of Maine System shows that UMM reduced its greenhouse gas emissions from heating and electricity by 44% between 2006 and 2012, the largest reduction among the seven UMS campuses over the same period.

UMM Students Plan 2nd Annual Machias Valley Run for April 28
MACHIAS, Maine – Students in the Environmental Recreation and Tourism Management program at the University of Maine at Machias have been busy planning the second annual Machias Valley Run, which includes several road races for adults and youth. The event, to be held Sunday, April 28, will feature a half marathon, 5k, and one-mile fun run.

Juried Student Art Show Accepting Submissions
The Interdisciplinary Fine Arts program has announced that it is accepting submissions for the 2013 Juried Student Art Show. The selected works will be displayed April 8–24 in the UMM Art Galleries. Deadline to enter is Wednesday, March 27.
