Assistant Librarian for Public Services
MACHIAS, Maine – The University of Maine at Machias has announced that Amy Wisehart of Northampton, Mass., has been hired as the assistant librarian for public services at Merrill Library.
Wisehart comes to UMM from Mount Holyoke College where she served as interim librarian and instructional technology consultant, and earlier as a research and instructional support intern. Prior to Mount Holyoke, she served as IT coordinator and circulation associate at the Emily Williston Memorial Public Library in Easthampton, Mass.
In addition to her background in library public services, Wisehart has a great deal of experience in management and customer service. She spent five years working in various management capacities at Equal Exchange, a Fair Trade food distribution company based in Massachusetts.
In her role at UMM, Wisehart will be responsible for all areas of library service, including public services, instruction, and reference assistance. She will also be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of Merrill Library in the absence of the library director.
“I’m thrilled to be joining the UMM community, and I look forward to serving UMM students, faculty, and staff through my work at Merrill Library,” said Wisehart.
Wisehart holds a Master of Science in Library and Information Science from Simmons College and a bachelor’s degree in gender studies from Hampshire College.
