Hello everyone! My name is Jesse Blackburn, I am currently a Junior at the University of Maine at Machias studying Psychology & Community Studies with a minor in Counseling. I grew up in Cherryfield, Maine which is in the same county as Machias (roughly 25 minutes away). I attended Narraguagus High School from 2006-2010 and was very active in extra curricular activities as well as sports and academia. I can honestly say I have continued this trend in college. I love to take on as much as possible and often times I end up biting too much than I can chew but it always turns out positively and I have developed some great time management skills over the years.
I chose the University of Maine at Machias because it was similar to my high school setting, a small campus where I would be given the opportunities to be a leader, create clubs, have one-on-one with professors, and know everyone at my college. It was a wise choice on my part to attend this college, not to mention affordable. I knew I didn’t want to spend an arm and a leg on an undergraduate degree. This way I can save money for graduate school. I love this campus and the relationships I have formed not only from my student peers but from faculty and staff as well.
