Marketing & Public Relations Intern

Supervisor

While interns will have a faculty adviser from the English, Creative Writing, & Book Arts Program, interns will work directly with Erik Smith, Director of Marketing and Public Relations, University of Maine at Machias.

Regular Duties

With guidance from the Director of Marketing and Public Relations, interns will be expected to write press releases and feature stories for the UMM web site, alumni newsletter, and distribution to the media. They will also be tasked with conducting interviews with UMM students, faculty, and staff, and taking photos at various UMM events.

Expected Output

A weekly output goal will be determined by the Director of Marketing and Public Relations and the intern before the internship begins.

Time Frame

The Marketing and Public Relations Office will offer one internship during each of the fall and spring semesters.

Process of Selection

Interested students who exhibit a high quality of writing are referred by the English, Creative Writing, and Book Arts faculty. Candidates must supply a sample of their writing and will be interviewed by the Director of Marketing and Public Relations. After the interviews, one candidate will be selected for the internship.
