MaineStreet Essentials

  • Login. You log into MaineStreet with your maine.edu login and password. If your maine.edu email address is john.smith@maine.edu, your MaineStreet login is john.smith and your password is the same as your maine.edu email password.
  • CRNs. CRNs in MaineStreet are called Class Numbers. They can vary in length. They work the same as CRNs, though, to identify unique sections of classes.
  • More Info at your fingertips. You can get more detail on every class by clicking on section numbers in the Class Search:
    • Course Descriptions
    • Prerequisites
    • Class Attributes
    • Whether a course meets a Core Requirement.
  • Class Search. You can search for courses by Subject and Course Number, but also by Instruction Mode (on-site, web, ITV, video conferencing), and Location. Select the Additional Search Criteria on the Class Search page.
  • Classes with Lab Components. Classes with labs are structured differently. Both lecture and lab sections have a unique Class Number, but you only need to select the lecture section to be enrolled. You will automatically be enrolled in the corresponding lab. To make it easier, section numbers for lecture/lab combinations at UMM follow this pattern:
    • If lecture is section 0010 -> lab is section 0011
    • If lecture is section 0020 -> lab is section 0022
    • If lecture is section 0030 -> lab is section 0033
  • Course Search and Class Search. In MaineStreet, Course Catalog Search lets you search all the active courses in the catalog. Class Search lets you search for courses offered during a given term. If there are more than 3 sections of a course, you will need to Select View All Sections to see them all.
  • Academic History. Your academic history can be found under Academics in the Student Center. Select the term and the campus for which you have history to view the detail.
  • Holds. Don't worry if you see an Academic History Verification Hold on your record from another campus, where you may have applied, but never attended (or where you may have attended before 1985). That hold will NOT prevent you from accessing your UMM record.
  • DO worry if you have a Business Office Hold, Library Hold, Immunization Hold or Unmet Disciplinary Sanction Hold on your record. These holds WILL prevent you from registering.
  • GPA. Grade point averages in MaineStreet are displayed to three decimal places, instead of two. Rounding still happens, but only to the nearest thousandth.
  • Course Topics. You'll see two display lines on your record when you've taken a topics course where the special topic is or was different from the generic title. For example, If you took a PE Activity course in Water Aerobics, you'll see both titles Physical Education Activity and Water Aerobics. In Class Search, the Course Topic will be displayed just below the green dot which indicates that a course is Open.
  • Majors and Concentrations. A Major in MaineStreet is called a Plan. A concentration is called a Subplan. The Undergraduate level is called a Career.
  • Degree Audits. Degree Audits can be found at the link titled Degree Progress/Graduation in the Student Center.   Degree Audits have been built in MaineStreet for most majors, but are not available for minors.  If you have a question about your degree audit, please contact your academic advisor.  Your advisor should send any questions or concerns to the UMM Registrar's Office.
  • Distance Courses from Other Campuses. Distance courses in MaineStreet will be maintained by the campus offering the course.
  • Your Class Schedule. Once you've registered, you can print out a list of your classes by generating a Study List.
  • Last Dates to Add/Drop and Withdraw. Once you're registered, you can find the last date to Add/Drop or Withdraw from Classes, by clicking on the Important Dates link for each class in your schedule.
