2012 Maine Policy Scholars (Maine Community Foundation photo)Do you have an area of public policy you would like to explore? Regardless of your major, we have a program to support you in an in-depth study to inform policy-makers.

The Maine Community Foundation will provide a scholarship of $1500, plus $1000 to cover expenses, to a UMM student to examine an issue of local, regional, or state importance. Scholars take up to 6 credit hours researching and addressing their policy question, attend three policy scholar meetings, and work with UMS faculty and state policymakers.

There are some criteria for this competitive program: you must be a matriculated UMM student with a GPA of 3.00 or higher and will have completed 60 or more credits by next September.

The application, which includes an essay describing your proposal, is due by February 17. For more information on the application process please contact Prof. Jon Reisman at 255-1242 or at jreisman@maine.edu.
