Lead Teacher~ Early Education and Family Services
Child & Family Services is seeking a Lead Teacher for our newly created Combination Program located at the Parkside Center.
The Lead Teacher delivers services within the Early Education and Family Services components. It is the responsibility of this position to provide a safe, nurturing and stimulating learning environment for the overall growth and development of children and families in accordance with the PROP Child and Family Services philosophy and Work Plan, Head Start Performance Standards and NAEYC Accreditation Standards. This position also acts as the primary support and resource person connecting families to their children’s educational experiences, their children’s health services, and to community resources.
Successful candidate will demonstrate the following characteristics: 2 yrs experience working with children in a group setting and experience working with diverse communities, organizational and crisis management skills, documentation skills, group management skills, flexibility, creative critical thinking, ability to establish a relationship of trust and respect with parents, children and staff while maintaining confidentiality. Supervisory and Family Service experience is preferred. Must be at least 18 years old.
This job requires the candidate to sit, stand, speak,
listen, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, and the ability
to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Preferred Education/Work Experience:
- A baccalaureate or advanced degree in early childhood education; or
- A baccalaureate or advanced degree in any subject and coursework equivalent to a major relating to early childhood education with experience teaching infant/toddler children; or
- An associate degree in early childhood education; or
- An associate degree in a field related to early childhood education and coursework equivalent to a major relating to early childhood education, with experience teaching infant/toddler children; or
- An Infant/Toddler Child Development Associate (CDA) credential and have been trained (or have equivalent coursework) in early childhood development with a focus on infant and toddler development.
- Supervisory experience.

- An Infant/Toddler Child Development Associate (CDA) credential and have been trained (or have equivalent coursework) in early childhood development.
This is a full-time, year round, 31 hour per week position. The pay range is $12.62 - $18.03 per hour.
Our new Combination Program at Parkside (85 Grant St.) will serve 8 children in the age ranges of 12 mos.-3 years. We will provide Early Head Start Services to all of these families, which include, a health and nutrition component (helping children to be caught up on well-child exams, immunizations, and so forth), A Family Services Component (engaging families to participate in their child’s educational/emotional development, connecting families to resources in their community, setting family goals), An Educational Component, and when applicable, connecting to CDS services… or other local agencies this is exactly what we do in all of our programs. This program will run in the classroom Tuesday’s and Thursdays, from 9-3 and each family will also have 2 home visits a month by their primary Lead Teacher. The program will include two Lead Teachers with primary care responsibility for four children and their family along with one Assistant Teacher.
