Thespis Players to Perform "Into the Woods"

Performances to take place March 4 - 6

MACHIAS, ME – The Thespis Players, a student theatre group at the University of Maine at Machias, will perform the Tony Award winning musical, Into the Woods, Thursday, March 4 through Saturday, March 6. Performances will take place each night at 7 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center.

Adapted from the book written by James Lapine, and featuring music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, Into the Woods explores what happens after the “happily ever after” in our favorite fairy tales. Well-known characters, including Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Repunzel, and others discover that having your dreams come true can be scary. Although everyone’s wish is granted in the beginning, the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later, with disastrous results.

UMM student Crystal Czaja directs the all-student cast, while professor Gene Nichols provides musical accompaniment.
