UMM Students to Perform Original Musical, "IFA"
MACHIAS, ME – The Interdisciplinary Fine Arts (IFA) program at the University of Maine at Machias will present three performances of an original musical, “IFA,” on April 30 and May 2.
The musical is about a fictitious small college that loses its theatre program, and is in danger of losing much more, due to some backroom maneuvering and chicanery. The students and faculty rise to the occasion, and make their voices heard.
The script and some of the lyrics for “IFA” were written by senior Matt Ganong, the production is being directed by senior Crystal Czaja, and nearly all of the music and lyrics were composed by Gene Nichols, professor of music at UMM. The show fulfills the students’ senior capstone requirement.
The performances take place in the Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 30, and at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 2. Admission is free and open to the public.
