UMM has seats available on its eleven-day trip to China in May 2014. The trip, open to both students and community members, will run May 19 through 29, 2014.

Organizers will host an information session on Tuesday, September 17 at 4 p.m. in room 230 of Torrey Hall.

China Trip Info Session

MACHIAS, Maine – The University of Maine at Machias will hold its annual Constitution Day Forum at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 17, in the Portside room of Kimball Hall.

In celebration of the signing of the Constitution on September 17, 1787, the forum will feature a panel discussion on “Liberty and Security,” exploring how liberty, security, and the Constitution continue to interact.

Panel members will include Rep. Peter Doak (R-Cherryfield), Captain Wayne Peters, U.S. Navy (retired), and Assistant District Attorney Paul Cavanaugh. The panel will be moderated by Jon Reisman, associate professor of economics and public policy at UMM.

The forum will be streamed live on the Internet at www.machias.edu/umm-live and will include an opportunity for questions from the in-person audience and those using the Twitter hashtag #UMMLive.

In celebration of Banned Books Week (September 22-28) and the freedom to read, Merrill Library at the University of Maine at Machias will host a brown bag event in the library on Friday, September 27th at 12:00 p.m.  Professor Gerard NeCastro will read from Invisible Man. Participants are encouraged to read from their favorite “banned” book!  The event is free and open to the public.
