Week-Long "Earth Fest" at UMM April 17-25

MACHIAS, ME – Students at the University of Maine at Machias have organized an entire week of environmentally themed events in celebration of the 40th anniversary of Earth Day. “Earth Fest” will feature movies, speakers, campus and community clean-ups, and a Maine meal with food from local farmers.

Saturday, April 17

Trail Clean-Up*
8:30 a.m.
Downeast Salmon Federation, East Machias
Meet at the Downeast Salmon Federation Building in East Machias for a trail clean-up followed by a BBQ. Sponsored by the Downeast Salmon Federation, Sunrise Coalition, Cadillac Mountain Sports, Jim Weston, and the UMM programming class.

Relay for Life*

Relay for Life is a fun-filled overnight event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise awareness about cancer research. Faculty, staff, students, and community members form teams and each team member takes turns walking through the night to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Sponsored by the American Cancer Society.
