Maine Writers Series to Host Maine Poet Dawn Potter on March 2
MACHIAS, ME – The Maine Writers Series at the University of Maine at Machias will host Maine poet and essayist Dawn Potter at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 2, in the UMM Art Gallery. Potter will read from her poetry, as well as from her new book, Tracing Paradise: Two Years in Harmony with John Milton.
Dawn Potter is associate director of the Frost Place Conference on Poetry and Teaching, held each summer at Robert Frost's home in Franconia, New Hampshire. She is the author of two collections of poetry as well as, Tracing Paradise: Two Years in Harmony with John Milton, a memoir about copying out every single word of Paradise Lost. The book, published by the University of Massachusetts Press, won a 2010 Emerging Writer's Fellowship from the Writers' Center in Washington, D.C.
Potter lives in Harmony, Maine, with her husband, photographer Thomas Birtwistle, and their two sons.
