Clipper Orientation, Registration, and Excursions (CORE)
Mark your calendars and plan to join us either June 16 & 17, 2017 or June 23 & 24, 2017 for Clipper Orientation, Registration, and Excursions - or CORE for short. CORE is our summer orientation program designed to prepare students for their UMM experience. During CORE, you will have the opportunity to register for classes, meet faculty and staff, experience the residence halls, and explore the natural beauty of the Machias area.
Attending CORE is required for all new first year and transfer students as it provides a great opportunity to meet your future classmates, find your potential roommate for the coming year, build friendships, make memories, and get to know the campus a little before classes begin in the fall.
CORE is free for admitted students and UMM provides meals and lodging in our residence halls. Family members are also encouraged to attend, as they are an important part of their student's journey! We have workshops and sessions planned especially for family members. There is a small fee of $40.00 for each family member, which covers lodging and meals.
Information regarding registration for CORE will be posted in late spring. Around the beginning of June, we will email you a CORE packet with directions to campus, a schedule of events, and room assignments.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call the Student Engagement & Inclusion office at (207)-255-1245.
Stay Longer and Explore Downeast Maine!
UMM is situated on the pristine coast of Maine, with beaches only a few miles from campus. The area offers numerous natural activities and many beautiful places to visit, such as Roque Bluffs State Park, Jaspers Beach, and Cobscook Bay State Park, just to name a few. Not up for an outdoor adventure? Visit some local Downeast favorites like Monica’s Chocolates in Lubec, or Rayes Mustard in Eastport. Don’t forget Campabello Island in New Brunswick, Canada (passports needed).
If you would like to stay Saturday evening we are offering an extended stay package where UMM students and their families can stay in our residence halls Saturday night for an additional $15.00 per person. As part of the extended stay, we have excusions planned for Saturday afternoon, which we invite you join us for. More information about the excursions can be found on the registration form.
