Clipper Orientation, Registration, and Excursions (C.O.R.E.)
Congratulations on your decision to attend the University of Maine at Machias! UMM offers a supportive, small community to help with your transition from high school to college. We are excited to see you and your family on June 26 & 27, 2015!
Clipper Orientation, Registration, and Excursions (C.O.R.E.), is our summer program designed to assist students prepare for their UMM experience. You will have the opportunity to register for classes, meet faculty, advisors, academic and student affairs staff, experience the residence halls, and explore the natural beauty of the Machias area. You and your family can stay an additional evening in UMM’s residence halls to explore the beautiful coast, or join us for an excursion! (More details below or on the registration form).
Students are strongly encouraged to attend C.O.R.E. The event provides a great opportunity to meet with your future classmates, pick your roommate for the year, build friendships, make memories, and get to know the campus better before classes begin in the Fall. It is a great way to get a head start on your college experience!
C.O.R.E. is free for admitted students. UMM provides meals, lodging, supplies, and transportation for events and programs. Family members are also encouraged to attend, as they are an important part of this journey for students! We have workshops and sessions planned especially for family. There is a small fee of $40.00 for each family member. The fee covers lodging, meals, and transportation.

Stay Longer and Explore Downeast Maine!
UMM is situated on the pristine coast of Maine, with beaches only a few miles from campus. The area offers numerous natural activities, and many beautiful places to visit. Just to name a few: Roque Bluffs State Park, Jaspers Beach, and Cobscook Bay State Park. Acadia is also close by! Not up for an outdoor adventure? Visit some local Downeast favorites like Monica’s Chocolates in Lubec, or Rayes Mustard in Eastport. Don’t forget Campabello Island (passports needed). Do this all without having to worry about hotel reservations or summer rates! If you would like to stay Saturday June 27, 2015 we are offering an extended stay package. UMM students and their families can stay in our residence halls for a rate of $15.00 per person per night.
