Free College Goal Sunday Seminar at UMM on January 31

MACHIAS, ME – The University of Maine at Machias will serve as a host site for the College Goal Sunday program, taking place at 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 31. The statewide program, sponsored by the Finance Authority of Maine (FAME), will provide college-bound students and their parents with assistance in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

College Goal Sunday provides free line-by-line assistance with the FAFSA by financial aid professionals from many of Maine’s colleges and universities. The FAFSA form is required by most schools for financial aid consideration.

The seminar at UMM, one of twenty-two events held simultaneously throughout the state, will take place in computer room 106 of Torrey Hall. Having access to computers will allow participants to complete the FAFSA online during the seminar.

Workshop participants are asked to bring their 2009 Federal Income Tax return, if already completed. If not already completed, they should bring their 2008 Federal Income Tax return and their 2009 W-2 forms or last pay stubs.
