Classes of 1961 & 1962 Honored at Alumni Lobster Feed
MACHIAS, Maine – The Mac Sennett Lobster Feed and Alumni Reunion was held Saturday, August 18, at the University of Maine at Machias. More than 80 UMM alumni, staff, faculty, and other friends and family gathered to reconnect and enjoy a Downeast Maine meal of lobsters and clams.
Following the Alumni Association’s annual business meeting, everyone gathered for a wine and cheese reception to recognize the honored classes of 1961 and 1962. Attending from the Class of 1961 were Barbara Fish, Donald Hill, and Russell Boynton. Members of the Class of 1962 present were Jane Lyon, Jackie Emerson, Charlene Myers, Richard Gardner, Rowena Higinbotham, Wilma Marsh, Ruth MacKechnie, and Ivan Corey. Also honored at the event was Wayne Peters ’06, recipient of the 2012 Distinguished Alumni Award.
Several items donated by alumni and friends were auctioned off at the event to raise money for Alumni Association scholarships. The auction generated more than $2,000 for the scholarship fund.
After the auction, the Aramark Dining Services staff served a delicious feast of lobster, steamed clams, corn on the cob, potato salad, and blueberry pie.
Alumni and friends of the University are invited to come back to campus later this month for UMM’s annual Homecoming and Family Weekend, September 28–30.
