kilburn Kilburn Commons, a modern dining facility serving the needs of students, faculty, and staff, is also used regularly for banquets and other campus and community activities.
Powers Hall
powers hall Powers Hall houses the Advising Center, Career Development Office, Business Office, Financial Aid, First Stop and the Registrar’s Offices, faculty and staff offices, classrooms, two art galleries, and the 364-seat Performing Arts Center.
The Performing Arts Center
Performing Arts Center The Performing Arts Center is a 364-seat venue for theatre, dance, concerts, and much more.
Science Building
The Science Building The Science Building contains laboratories for biology, chemistry, GIS, marine biology, and physics; a 100-seat lecture hall; classrooms; a conference room; and faculty offices. A variety of aquaria housing living organisms may be found in this building. The two largest aquaria contain marine organisms from the neighboring Gulf of Maine. The Science Building is also home to UMM’s aquaculture facility, a photography darkroom, a teaching herbarium, and a greenhouse.
Torrey
Torrey Torrey Hall contains faculty offices, the Student Support Center, the Interactive Television Center, the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) lab, the Information Technology Department and computer labs, the Counseling Center, Special Services (disabilities and accommodations), the Advising Center and Study Center.
Flaherty
Flaherty The Elizabeth Clarke Flaherty Early Childcare and Education Center , run by Child and Family Opportunities, serves the needs of both UMM and Washington County. The childcare program, which is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, offers rich experiences to foster creativity and growth in early childhood development.
Sennett Hall
Sennett Hall Sennett Hall is one of two residence halls on campus. Providing housing for 146 students, Sennett Hall offers a laundry room, lounges with flat-screen televisions, recreation rooms, and a kitchen. The residence hall also has a security access swipe card system for safety and convenience. A full-time, live-in Resident Director supervises a staff of resident assistants who are located on each floor. Sennett Hall is also the home of the Clipper Lounge, a multi-purpose conference room for campus organizations.
The O'Brien House
O'Brien House The O’Brien House is home to the Admissions Office. Once the traditional residence for the University president and family, the building is named after its former owner and architect, Jeremiah O’Brien, who served in the Maine Legislature during the 1800’s. This fine example of an early 19th-century home is maintained in the décor of the period.
Dorward Hall
Dorward HallDorward Hall is one of two residence halls on campus. Providing housing to 197 students, Dorward Hall offers a laundry room, lounges with flat-screen televisions, recreation rooms, and a kitchen. The residence hall also has a security access swipe card system for safety and convenience. A full-time, live-in Resident Director supervises a staff of resident assistants who are located on each floor. Health Services, Student Activities, and Student Life are all located on the first floor of Dorward Hall, while UMM's Book Arts Studio makes its home on the lower level. Aside from traditional rooms, Dorward also offers suite style living for upperclass students. A suite consists of two double rooms, a common area, and a private bathroom.
Kimball Hall
Kimball Hall Kimball Hall houses offices for faculty, professional staff, student organizations, the Student Center, and the Physical Facilities Office. The Student Center, located on the first floor, is the meeting place of the campus, providing a setting where all segments of the campus community may relax and feel at home. A variety of activities from small meetings to a series of Thursday night movies and Friday evening shows and other social events can be accommodated in Portside. The Poopdeck, includes ping-pong and pool tables, music/TV rooms, and video games, as well as quiet study areas. The Galley snack bar is a popular campus eatery offering pizza, salads, subs, burgers, ice cream, beverages, snacks and more. During the week, the Galley is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
The Campus Support Building
support The Campus Support Building houses all the grounds equipment and includes a mechanical shop with equipment storage, carpenter shop, and service area for vehicles in the motor pool.
The Soccer Field
Soccer Field The Soccer Field is the home of the Clippers Men’s and Women’s soccer teams.
The Pond
Pond The Pond is located between the soccer field and the Fitness Center, serving as a great backdrop for outdoor lectures. The pond is also home to the annual Canoe Joust.
The Reynolds Center
Reynolds Center The Fitness Center and Frederic A. Reynolds Athletic Center is home to UMM’s perennially competitive sports teams, the Clippers. This facility, the largest and best-equipped of its kind in eastern Maine, contains a full-sized gymnasium, a competition-size swimming pool, fully equipped weight and exercise rooms, a smaller gym, handball courts, locker and shower rooms, whirlpool and training rooms, classrooms and offices for the coaching staff and some of the faculty. Over thirty fitness classes per week are offered to university and community members through this facility.
Pool and Fitness Center
poolThe pool at the Fitness Center features 25-yard lap lanes, an open swim area, deep and shallow areas, a Red Cross Certified Lifeguard on duty, and is handicap accessible.
George Simpson Murdock Bookstore
bookstore The George Simpson Murdock Bookstore , located in the Fitness Center, is available for the convenience of students, faculty, staff and area residents. In addition to textbooks, other reading materials and classroom supplies, the bookstore carries a variety of clothing and novelty items.
