Bar Harbor Poet Christian Barter to Read at UMM on Nov. 12
MACHIAS, Maine – The Maine Writers Series at the University of Maine at Machias will host Bar Harbor poet Christian Barter for a reading on Tuesday, November 12, at 7 p.m. in the UMM Art Gallery.
Barter is the author of two books of poetry, In Someone Else’s House and The Singers I Prefer. The Singers I Prefer was a finalist for the Academy of American Poets’ Lenore Marshall Prize. His poetry has appeared in journals including Ploughshares, The Literary Review, Epoch, Georgia Review, and The American Scholar. He has also been featured on Poetry Daily, Poets and Writers, and The PBS Newshour.
Barter has been a resident fellow at Yaddo and The MacDowell Colony and a Hodder Fellow in poetry at Princeton University. He is the supervisor of a trail crew on Mount Desert Island and an editor for The Beloit Poetry Journal.
The reading is part of the ongoing Maine Writers Series at UMM, which features poetry, fiction, and nonfiction readings by Maine writers.
